Tobias Keene works primarily with oils. His paintings develop through extended observation and a careful building of surface, light, and tonal structure. The work reflects a sustained engagement with traditional studio practice and the discipline of looking.

Much of Keene’s work begins through direct observation—often with live models or physical references. The paintings evolve through a slow process of study, adjustment, and refinement within the studio.

The studio maintains detailed records for completed works, including title, date, medium, dimensions, and exhibition history where applicable. Documentation may also include installation views, preparatory studies, and related archival materials.

When a work is acquired directly through the studio or through an exhibiting gallery, a Certificate of Authenticity may accompany the painting. Additional documentation can be provided for collectors, curators, and institutions upon request.

The studio archive is maintained to support accurate provenance and long-term documentation of the artist’s work.
